Conflict management training is a waste of money (& here's why)
Conflict management training is a *waste* of *money*
Yup, I said it. Waste of time AND money. Conflict management and conflict resolution ARE important and a legitimate area of expertise, but a quick-hit training just isn't going to do it. Why not? I address it in this week's locker room chat :)

[00:00:00] Hey, happy Wednesday. Conflict management seems to be a hot topic in my consulting practice recently. Um, I don't know if recently, it's probably a hot topic all the time. I actually just feel like I've gotten a lot of requests lately for conflict management.
Whether it is, can you please do a conflict management training? As part of this leadership development thing we're doing with our team, can we integrate conflict management? Whatever it is, it's hot. It's always hot, but it seems really hot right now.
I'm going to let you in on the number one thing I tell clients or prospective clients. Conflict management training is probably not going to do much. A training on conflict management is probably going to be a waste of money. I always ask questions about what's going on. Why do you think you need this? Is there a conflict happening right now?
Tell me more about what's happening in your business that you think you need this. whether you're a leader and this is your own team, whether you are someone who is involved in the improvement of teams like I am,
go identify where this request is coming from and figure out where the conflict lies and then figure out what needs to happen to solve that conflict.
There's much more effective and targeted ways to [00:01:00] actually solve conflict that is happening. And it might be easier than you think. Say no to automatic training. Say yes to figuring out what's really going on. And solving that.
